Honors Skeeter C.R. Shelton

Skeeter C.R. Shelton sings and plays all musical instruments. He is a retired Army Bandsman of 35 years out of Livonia MI. He was to receive The Motown Life Achievement Award in August last year 2020 but hasn't yet due to COVID 19. He played with the Columbian Recording Singer Artist Joe Tex up to his death in the late 70's. Skeeter's father Ajaramu Shelton was a founding member of the AACM (Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians) out of Chicago IL and now in New York NY. His music teachers was Luis and Adele Gelanfie from the Country of Hungary and fought at Central Texas College in Fort Hood Killeen TX, Gene Ammons, Sunny Stitt, Dorthy Ashby, Amina Claudine Meyers, Rosco Mitchelle, Hakim Jami, Joseph Jarman, Roy Brooks to name a few. Skeeter played music with the Detroit Fire Department Band while he fought fires in Detroit MI for three years from 1972 to 1975. He studied and graduated from the Navy, Army and Marine School of Music in Norfolk Little Creek VA in 1970. He is with the ASCAP and his publishing company is Charlotte Rae Shelton Publishing. In his free time, he enjoys Martial Arts and Boxing
